Ercolano is smaller than Pompei, but very interesting too. Like Pompei, It was completely buried during the Vesuvius eruption of year 79 a.C. You find a lot of intact mosaics. You will love it! HOW TO GET TO ERCOLANO: Circumvesuviana train, direction Naples, stop in "Ercolano" (about 40 minutes). Buy tickets at the train station office

Herculaneum is marvellous! And very well conserved! You will be able to see the burnt wood too! It is smaller than Pompei, less tiring and wonderful. Do not miss it!

The archaeological areas of Pompeii and Herculaneum are so important because they are practically Roman cities that have come down to us exactly like they appeared 2000 years does. The pyroclastic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD submerged them completely, immortalizing them forever in history.

può sembrare uguale a Pompei, ma non è così....ad Ercolano tutto è più concentrato e vibrante, immediato ed inevitabilmente affascinante...piccola cittadina praticamente a ridosso del vesuvio. da vedere assolutamente!
