Yarra Flats Park is easily accessible, free, and a place where you can enjoy nature so close to the city. Enjoy the birdlife and visit the local kangaroo population (more than 20), that reside in the parkland. Best advised to stay on the trail and avoid the conservation area. There are highly venemous Tiger and Brown snakes in the area, especially during warmer mlonths.

One of a network of parks along the Yarra River. Check out the self guided "Heidelberg School Artists Trail" to find stories of famous artists like Arthur Streeton and Tom Roberts. The greatest concentration of signs along the trail is in the Heidelberg area and in the neighbouring suburbs of Eaglemont and Ivanhoe. There are 20 signs in this area alone and it offers great opportunities for interesting walks through magnificent parklands and heritage residential streets with stately homes.
