Contact the visitor centre for viewing times. They only come in at dusk to nest for the night, so timings vary each season.

So special seeing the penguins, they come home in the evening, so is a night time activity. Definitely One of those Once in a lifetime experiences! Please note is more suitable for older children as need to be quite so penguins don’t get scared

Visiting the Blue Penguin Colony both to see them come in at dusk and to explore the facility to learn about them, is a must when visiting Oamaru.
